Jim Savage has worked in the chemical dependency field since 1984, specializing in adolescent treatment. In the early 1990’s he developed a multi-media program that uses music, storytelling, meditation, creative drama, and wilderness retreats as a way to enhance young people’s treatment experience.

In 2000 he opened an adolescent outpatient treatment program in Plano, Texas, and ran this until 2010. This experience led to Jim’s specialized expertise in the area of working with teens and their families on an outpatient basis, from assessment and removing treatment resistance, to engaging young people and helping the entire family manage the treatment process and remain involved on a long term basis.

Jim is known for his laid back manner, yet is as equally respected for his “take no BS” attitude and ability to get to the heart of what’s going on with young people. He has an extensive background as a professional musician, and uses his music in numerous ways to enrich client’s treatment and teach about addiction. Jim is as at home on a stage as he is leading a group therapy session, and is a sought after presenter at conferences and seminars for his entertaining presentations using music, storytelling and other experiential activities. He is committed to personal recovery, and his own experience of addiction and recovery adds to his effectiveness in working with young people and their families.
